How do we come to be convinced that God is on our side. Consider for a moment a small child who is afraid of the dark. As long as the darkness remains the child is scared. But turn on the light the darkness goes away and the fear goes away 

Soon the child realized that there is really no difference in regard to what is in the room whether the lights are on or off. The difference is that safety comes not by the light switch but by what we know and believe. We do not see God as we do our friends but He is there. When we use what He has taught us to prove He is with us, on our side, we can overcome our fears. How else can God reveal Himself to us?
